Penang Char Kway Teow @ Old Airport Road

I like visiting Old Airport Road Hawker Centre because of the variety of street food that is available and its proximity to home. This hawker centre is also home to my favourite Penang-style Fried Kway Teow.

Penang Char Kway Teow
Penang Fried Kway Teow @ S$3 (for this plate)

I love how flavoursome this dish is as the thin strips of kway teow (rice noodles) have been infused with the slightly spicy flavour of the seasoning. The prawns used by the hawker are fresh and the eggs are perfectly seasoned. I also like how the dish is not excessively greasy and has a hint of "wok hei". The Penang Char Kway Teow (Fried Kway Teow) here is a Must-Try!

Penang Delights Storefront

Unfortunately, the stall is located at the quieter part of the hawker centre and so there is almost always never a queue whenever I'm there. I know many Singaporeans tend to associate queues with quality but this is one of the exceptions.

I miss old airport road! Used to go to school around there and we always ate at the hawker center after CCAs. They have fantastic wonton mee!!! Though I don't know it it's still there.

@ Sara: Thank you! The noodles were really tasty! :)

@ cookingupadream: I'm not such a big fan of the famous wanton mee stalls (tried 3 of them, 2 of which have electronic queueing systems). I used to love the Lor Mee but the line now is IMPOSSIBLE!

@ Katie: Ha ha! Bursty prawns...yum!

Went there last Sunday during the Easter long weekend;all I can say is it reminded me of all the good stuff you get North of the border. Was lucky enough to order before he closed for the evening! The Asam Laksa was also YUMO!

I just moved to the east, always pass by this food court on the bus but never tried it...i'm a total avid fan of Penang food and was just thinking of indulging in Penang food buffet in IBP (jurong east)..
I think I could save some $$, and go to this food court instead..thanks!

@ Sidney: Sorry for the extremely late reply as I missed this comment out. I'm glad you enjoyed your meal there and it reminded you of Malaysia (is that home for you?).

@ Power Of: Sorry to hear that you weren't able to locate this stall and about the drink stall's impending closure. Any idea why they are closing?

@ adel: I hope you'll get a chance to check out the food at this hawker centre. It is one of my favourites.
